Booted the 14.04 build from Sunday April 20. Still no mount of sdb1 or
sdc1.
Needed to apt-get python-apport to get the report to work.

I have an Asus N56VJ that exhibited the same behavior on 12.10. I
installed kernel 3.7.0-7 from Xorg-edgers and the F5-F6 backlight keys
now work correctly. I consider the backlight adjustment to be critical
as in a dimly lit room, the screen is so bright it hurts your eyes.
I tried a 13.04 live
"Password and Keys" did start up as user after two reboots.

I Installed Seahorse with plugins tonight and see the same error. System
is Asus N56 64 bit, Ubuntu 12.10 using Gnome desktop. "Password and
Keys" does not start.

With the 12.10 kernel 3.5, very function key worked on my Asus N56VJ
except F5, F6 screen backlight. This morning a routine update installed
kernel 3.7 and now F5, F6 work but will only adjust within about the top
ten percent of brightness.

I just spent several days trying to install 10.04 NBR on a Thinkpad 770Z
(circa 1999). The machine was running SuSE 10.3 and would not run the
Arduino IDE and refused to connect to my wireless AP with anything but
bare WEP. I collected several hard drives so I could experiment while

I am getting this message twice on xserver startup. The messages are the same
as that in #21. It goes away and X functions normally.
Graphics card is GeForce FX5200 AGP driving dual vga monitors both 1280x1024.
Using the nvidia proprietary driver.

I've worked around this problem by E-Baying a newer Nvidia GeFORCE-
FX5200 card which does do dual monitors OK with the NVidia supplied
driver.
I'm willing to move the Matrox 450 back into the PC if you need
something tested.

Last weekend I installed Ubuntu 6.06 on this 770E. I can tell you how I
dealt with the fan. This was worked out a year or so ago on a Vector
installation which also would not start the fan.
1. force acpi on by editing "acpi=force" to the end of the kernel line in
/boot/grub/menu.lst.
