Did you try simply updating the packages from the Trusty repos? The fix
has already been released.

@blubberdiblub: The patch didn't work for me. It did, however, work
with a little modification.

The patch above wasn't catching cases of
You know, I was just looking at that. I'm not sure why I didn't see it
before. FWIW, the patch in Debian Bug #754921 works for me without
modification.
