If you don't have osspd installed, go ahead and install it.
sudo apt-get install osspd
If you don't yet have the .xdemorserc file, go ahead and copy it from
/usr/share/doc/xdemorse/ to your users home directory.
cp -a /usr/share/doc/xdemorse/xdemorserc ~/.xdemorserc
I agree on this one also, it should be customizable and should be able
to autohide.

I can confirm that this is still true on the 8.10 live CD. I had to
install with the alternative CD and then modify /etc/X11/xorg.conf on my
Averatec 3200. I used the following in my xorg.conf and it is now
working fine:
Section Device
Identifier VIA Technologies, Inc. VT8378 [S3 UniChrome]
I also fixed it using almost the same, but only having the following in
/etc/X11/xorg.conf works perfectly for me on Averatec 3200.
Section Device
Identifier VIA Technologies, Inc. VT8378 [S3 UniChrome] Integrated Video
Driver openchrome
BusID PCI:1:0:0
EndSection
Section Monitor

I tested it against Hardy Alpha 6 and it would not connect to a WPA2
network, but it did briefly connect to a WPA network but then
disconnected. I will try to get the latest beta of hardy and retest.
