After some checking the newer kernel for karmic doesn't seem to use usbcore.ko . Can't test if the new design used works by default, but it seems to be flexible search in file:///tmp/linux-source-2.6.31/drivers/usb/gadget/file_storage.c the buffer seems to be dynamic but at default set to 16384.
