Still no fix, or an acceptable workaround for that matter... but Ive
found some strange behaviour:
the setting for the edge bindings ( in gconf) isn't set, although it is set in
CCSM :
/apps/compiz1/plugins/expo/screen0/options
or the scale one...
also, setting it up manually using gconf it
I can confirm the following, and add some interesting things:
The bug starts when moving any window, by moving it in circles you can even
get the window to freeze.
compiz --replace or unity --replace fix it for one or 2 mins.

I tried this but unfortunately it does not help with my set-up.
If your really desperate for a workaround, you'll have to give up Unity
3D (Unity is a compiz plugin). Unity 2D and GNOME Classic replace Compiz
with Metacity, and if you install GNOME 3 PPA you'll get Mutter, but
compiz won't be
Not sure if this helps but I'm currently using Evernote via Wine 1.5.8
thru PlayOnLinux. Going into wineprefs and unchecking allow window
manager to decorate this window seems to make Compiz a little less
glitchy, but still crashes.

This regression is just madness. Just as others have said, it is present
and annoying. Making it harder to set basic options like this in Linux
is what makes a lot of people choose Mac or Windows. Just saying.

patterns in the affected kernels and that 2.6.32-21 did not have the

I have the same issue as well, except I have an ASUS laptop running
64bit Ubuntu with an ext4 partition. Would be glorious to see this
fixed, although it is hard to tell what has caused it to be broken.

The kernel version I am using at the moment is the standard Ubuntu build
of 2.6.32.22.
This error occurs about once a day during normal use, which for me
includes running a word processor, sometimes a torrent program or
sometimes not, empathy and other standard Ubuntu desktop applications.

sync. The buffer needs to be upped to 128k

After some checking the newer kernel for karmic doesn't seem to use usbcore.ko .
Can't test if the new design used works by default, but it seems to be flexible
search in file:///tmp/linux-source-2.6.31/drivers/usb/gadget/file_storage.c
the buffer seems to be dynamic but at default set to 16384.
It'd be nice to edit the last post, but it seems I missed the fact
theres the drivers/usb/storage/ and drivers/usb/wusbcore/ that is the
more likely candidate for why usbcore.ko is no longer needed . For that
reason I guess the patch would be harder to track, but might not need
recompiling at the

Thanks for your email. I believe the bug is till unresolved in Edgy,
which I have installed at the moment, and I'm pretty sure Dapper has it
too. You can check it by printing pretty much any tiff image.

When I send an image to print, I get either black square or negative
