Could you test if MS Office 2007 works with latest wine 1.6 release? You
can install latest wine from official Ubuntu-Wine repo (PPA):
https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-wine/+archive/ppa
Do not forget to remove all wine1.4 related packages before wine1.6
installation.
