Public bug reported: After a fresh install of Xubuntu 12.04 onto an Acer Aspire 5720, using a usb flash drive as installation media, the PC failed to boot with the message: "No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key".
If the installation media was inserted during boot however, Xubuntu booted fine. Turns out the boot flag was missing in the primary partition. The problem was fixed by setting the boot flag manually through gparted. ** Affects: ubiquity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Summary changed: - No boot flag on any partition - Failure to boot after install No boot flag on any partition - Failure to boot after install - Acer Aspire 5720 + No boot flag on any partition - Failure to boot after install - Acer Aspire 5720 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1009914 Title: No boot flag on any partition - Failure to boot after install - Acer Aspire 5720 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1009914/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
