Hi Frank,
I have checked the xorg packages that are in moment in Quantal. Actual
is 7.7, while your problem occures with 7.6.
This is far beside a guarantee, but there could be a chance that the
problem is not anymore there. Are you interested in a second try?

What I really not undestand at these logs is that apt is figuring
arround with ati xorg components, but in the summary of this report
there is shown:
