Yeah, it definitely seems like a Unity crash. In that case, do you have any .crash files for compiz in /var/crash? If so, can you run the command apport-bug /var/crash/NAME_OF_CRASH_FILE.crash and file a new bug report for it? If that does work, then we can close this bug since apport will file

It happens even with the nvidia drivers too. I don't think so its got to be with drivers because the other desktop environments work fine and don't seem to have any problems . I had this issue today morning too. The status menu to log out/shutdown wasn't even visible as it went towards the right
