I'm still seeing this bug in Ubuntu 12.04 (using static (i.e. non-
automounter) mounts).
Redhat claims to have fixed this bug with kernel release 2.6.32-279.el6
(for RHEL 6) and 2.6.18-348.el5 (for RHEL 5). Can their fixes be ported
to the Ubuntu kernel tree?
