I don`t know where the bug is fore sure, but I have had the same issue
on at least three different computers. It is not related to 12.04 nor
powerpc exclusively.  When gnome mplayer plays any video or dvd the
frame can go black (picture disappears). It happens regularly especially
when changing size of window or choosing full screen. Film or video
still runs fine with sound and picture does reappear if I keep chaning
window size or full screen modus.  I have had the same gnome mplayer
setup in puppy liunx too and it has been all stable there, not so in
lubuntu. I hope there is a fix for it, gnome mplayer is very good and is
usually great with gecko and flash video replacer (at least on regular
pc).
