I also use Xubuntu 12.04 and also have this problem. Periodicity between
choosing layout and resetting to the default layout is about 9-10
minutes.

NO! Definitely not a duplicate of #944468. #944468 is about the settings
of the plugin, this one is about the keyboard layout setting that should
be specific to every app/window. This window/app specific
I have the same exact problem. I don't really know how to describe it but it
seems it's much more frequent when I'm switching between workspaces from a
primary-layout-program to a secondary-layout-program. Hope you understand what
I'm saying.
Will have some more time tomorrow to really test
