Have to cancel the previous. For some reason it is not 100% consistent
and producible. Now the nautilus is hanging again when querying the file
properties.

Somthing along the process of of setting up all of my photography
applications seems to have at least alleviated this problem. I just
queried repeatedly a canon CR2 raw properties and the Nautilus did not
hang. There may be a work around available. I did following things that

Same problem here with .CR2 files, very annoying. Fully updated Ubuntu
12.04. .CR2 files from EOS 40D and EOS 550D cameras.

I've checked that the same issue (nautilus hangs) occurs when trying to
view / set file properties of .CR2 files (Canon proprietary raw data
format). I attach a .CR2 file from a Canon EOS 1 Ds Mark III to this
comment.

Hi,
I have the same problem too.
I have DNGs created during an import of Nikon's raws (D5000). It was imported
first in LightRoom 4 with the Fast Load Preview enabled.

compressed and is absolutely standard on this model of camera.
