I have a 1.5 second delay when opening or closing with the Super key.
All actions that include Super, such as Super + W (show all windows)
have the same delay. Opening with four-finger tap on the touchpad or by
clicking the dash icon on the launcher is much faster - instant.
Could it be a timeout
I get this on my Ubuntu 13.04 system (GPU: NVS 3100M/PCIe/SSE2, driver
3.3.0 NVIDIA 304.88), delay is about 2.5 seconds between pressing Super
and the Dash appearing.
I do not get this on my (lesser-powered) Ubuntu 13.10 system with Mesa
Gl drivers: the Dash opening is almost immediate.

Can you describe the length of the delay? As there is a 90ms animation
when opening/hiding the dash.

This could be related to the Nvidia driver, since the dash opens as
quickly as the Gnome shell activities overlay does on my Intel-based
system. Tested on AMD too, and the results were similar.
