The error propagation is most likely fixed in 0.98, LP: #1632361 , while
u-u can't do much when dpkg fails. The next u-u run will try to recover
from the broken state.

Hello. Seen a crash report window appear on Ubuntu 16.04, mentioning

Got matching issue because of /usr full on an old unattended precise setup that
was trying to upgrade firefox.
Almost-interesting part of dpkg log just in case:

FWIW, I got this issue this morning when I logged into my desktop.
In my case the problem was that installing a new kernel failed because
there wasn't enough space in /boot (I have a really tiny /boot and this
happens whenever I forget to purge old kernels).

Just happened to me on trusty, installed yesterday.
Looking at my unattended-upgrades-dpkg log, it was immediately clear
that in my case it had nothing to do with unattended-upgrades itself.
There was a minor problem with the configuration options of one of the
programs that got invoked through
I am seeing this error just after logging into the desktop. It's fairly
consistent. The Crash Report says it's a duplicate of this bug and as
requested in comment #17 I'm pasting in the log file;
