Public bug reported: When using Unity 2D, OSD notifications occasionally do not show. In particular, when changing volume through the keyboard, approximately 50% of the time I receive no visual feedback (i.e. the volume bar that it is supposed to pop-up in the upper right corner does not appear).
Usually, when the problem happens the volume bar can be made to appear by quickly moving the mouse pointer outside the current window (e.g. on the launcher, or on the menu bar). Note that even when notification does not appear the volume actually changes, so the keyboard event is received by the system.
