I am experiencing what looks like this same problem in 13.04 with the
3.8.0-19-generic kernel

I can not confirm this being present @3.8.0-19: my setup is unchanged
and still working.

A new Precise kernel containing the fix for this issue is available in
the -proposed pocket (See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed
for documentation how to enable and use -proposed). Feel free to give
it a try and report back! Thanks.

You received this bug notification because
I believe this should be solved in current Precise kernel (3.2.0-32.51),
after commit:

I guess that commit is the cause of it actually, as that is the version of the
kernel that is the problem (the bug tool does not allow to select a kernel
version other than the one you booted into)
3.2.0-31.50 works perfectly, 3.2.0-32.51 does not

You received this bug notification because
I have the same thing if I boot into windows btw, using the propietery
driver it bitches that I should use an active adapter, however linux has
worked perfectly for ever.
I have 3 identical screens set up to identical resolutions and
refreshrates, so sharing clocks and what not should be no issue
http://www.spinics.net/lists/kernel/msg1414662.html
If I read correctly this patch was actually reverted a bit later
upstream.

You're absolutely right! Sorry, I completely missed the point. Thanks
for the correction.
Anyway, the fix (the revert) is already queued for the next kernel.
This kernel should be out in ~3 weeks, but by the end of this week (or
beginning of next week) you should be able to use it if you enable
w00p :)
for now 3.2.0-31 works fine as well ;) no hurries updating :P
