It would be nice to implement Selection Tool on the toolbar and Save Crop As
item and dialog on the right click over selection.
I think this it the simples and the most intuitive image cropping method.

You have to click the Crop button BEFORE clicking Apply. The Crop
button is in the upper-left corner of the crop button, diagonally
opposite the Apply button.
This is a confusing and user-hostile layout. Upstream bug
