Public bug reported: Support to control screen back-light via hotkeys is broken. This previously worked under 12.04 precise. Under 12.10 quantal, pressing Fn+F9 does not decrease backlight brightness. Under 12.10 quantal, pressing Fn+F10 does not increase backlight brightness.
Backlight control is possible via appet (System Settings > Brightness and Lock) Following troubleshhoting guidelines at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Hotkeys/Troubleshooting, I believe that the hot- key presses are not captured as neither input events nor ACPI Events.
