By looking at
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1079846 I figured
out that enabling in VirtualboxSettings of my Kubuntu virtual
machineSystemProcessor the Enable PAE/NX) setting made installation
of the generic kernel succeed.
