Tested with v3.8-rc3-raring and the latest v3.9-rc1-raring, touchpad is
still not recognized.

Same problem here..
I marked my bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1144000 as
duplicate.
I'll try testing the upstream kernel at a later point and report back
here...

v3.8 kernel[0] (Not a kernel in the daily directory) and install both
the linux-image and linux-image-extra .deb packages.
