@Joseph Salisbury
Thanks for the clarification. I was only going by the information in the
package as of earlier.
I will wait and test the whole supported lts-quantal stack.
Is there any plans to fix this issue in the current stack?

One option might be for you to use the linux-generic-lts-quantal
backport kernel. Would it be possible for you to test that kernel? It
can be installed by running the following from a terminal:
sudo apt-get install linux-generic-lts-quantal

While the lts-quantal kernel works, it is not ideal. This kernel only
has support until 2013. I would much prefer this issue be resolved in
the stock 3.2.0 kernel which has suppport until 2017.

The commit in comment #2 suggests that fix should be in v3.4-rc1 and
newer kernels:
git describe --contains 8dfec6140fc617b932cf9a09ba46d0ee3f3a7d87
v3.4-rc1~184^2~21^2~4
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds .
This bug is very annoying, breaks productivity and makes 12.04 hard to
use day to day effectively. I would hope it gets a high priority to be
fixed by the kernel team.
