I am using ubuntu 7.10 (gutsy) 64bit now on this (see above) and a
similar (see below) machine:
CPU AMD 64 X2 5200+
MB ASRock AliveNF6G-VSTA (On-Board-Graphic)
4 GB Ram G.E.I.L.
2x 500 GB SATA-II Samsung
The parameter iommu=soft is not needed anymore.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. This bug does not meet the criteria for a stable release update and is
being marked as Won't Fix for this particular version of the kernel. You can
learn more about the stable release update process at
Problem is solved.
Adding boot-parameter 'iommu=soft' is a fix (or better say workaround)
for this bug.
