Thanks for the heads up with the enable-dvx=0 on home folder I was going out
of my mind. ;))
That rely should have been solved with the system wide conf file. It occurred
with me on gutsy probably because some of my home was moved from a old festy
install.

One of the reasons that the divx plugin doesn't work could be also that the
plugin writes the value:
enable-dvx=0
in the ~/.mplayer/mplayerplug-in.conf file. (it suddenly did that on my pc and
it took me a while to figure it out because no option was shown in the config
dialog for

According to the changelog for the latest version in gutsy this has been
fixed in debian, however only for the debian iceweasel/ape packages
(symlinked from /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins) also, the directories
/usr/lib/iceweasel and /usr/lib/iceape seem to be created by this
package, this does not
