I don't see the link between the disappearing GTK elements and the
Python error messages (that may be related to Bug #418242 - Incorrect
call to output plugins on copy). Does it occur when you activate the
clipboard?

I'm using Unity, and it uses Python and PyGTK (if I'm not stupid xD).
Running Inkscape sometimes produces error with Python.
