Thanks for the patch, fixed in Debian upload xdrawchem_1.9.9-4, to be
synced to Ubuntu later.
Unfortunately, this is one of the many ways you can crash xdrawchem, it
doesn't cope well with unexpected user input. And it seems upstream is
mostly dormant.

xdrawchem crashes when import
I can confirm this bug. It only happens if you do not choose one of the
items from the list of returned structures.
I recompiled from source to get the debugging information and found the
offending line. The program wasn't checking to see if the user had
chosen an item before using it.

Can you attach the structure which provokes this segfault, please, if
you haven't already.
