Public bug reported:

When switching to a guest session, or to a different user, the system
often freezes. At times this also happens when terminating a guest
session. Ctrl+Alt+Fn and Ctrl+Alt+Del dont have any effect, and
apparently also SysReq+key. The only way of regaining control is to
switch off and on the PC with the power button.

My PC has an Intel Core i5 CPU 760 @ 2.80GHz × 4 with 8GB of RAM, a
450GB hard disk, and an Nvidia Quadro 400 graphics card. I'm running 64
bit Ubuntu 12.10 with the Noveau drivers.
