I am going to try to look into what is needed to actually support the
268 codec, but I looked in alsa git

This appears to be fixed by an upstream patch that has gone into git.
Please try 6.13 or 7.13 when it becomes available.

I have tried with Feisty and gutsy. Don't have a Dapper or an Edgy
installation to check.
