Okay, just had a new kernel panic with the upstream. It doesn't have the

Sometimes putting a system on a carpet or other soft surface will block
the ventilation openings. That could cause the system to overheat and
panic.
Can you attach your /var/log/syslog file to the bug. I can then review
it to see if there is an overheating issue.

Yep, it could - it just hadn't done that with 12.10 so it made me think
something was up.
