This is a serious problem, it can affect other devices on the network
while appearing to work fine for the machine running it. It caused me
to buy and return 2 wifi routers and spend 20 hours of time debugging
the situation.
Switching to b43 on 13.04 resolved the network issues on my dell

I also have a similar problem on Ubuntu 13.04 with latest kernel
3.8.0-19-generic. My problem can be considered as crital since when I
enable broadcom proprietry wireless driver, ubuntu freezes on boot.
Below is the kernel log just before the freeze:
