After upgradint to the latest version, the audio is working.
Furthermore, if I boot in the (now older) kernel 3.8.0-21-generic, I can
listen to the audio now.

I am unable to boot with the mainline kernel 3.10.0.999.
Also apport did now work for me.
Here is lspci output when running the broken 3.8.0-22-generic

since approx Friday 24th May I have no sound when running the latest ubuntu
kernel:
Linux molly 3.8.0-22-generic #33-Ubuntu SMP Thu May 16 15:17:14 UTC 2013 x86_64
x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
However, if I boot the previous kernel the sound is OK:
Linux molly 3.8.0-21-generic #32-Ubuntu SMP Tue

Confirm same situation. Audio working as of 3.8.0-20 and not working
anymore after upgrade to 3.8.1-21, showing just a Dummy output in Sound
Settings.
Some info from lspci and dmesg for easier debugging.
lsipci:
00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation Xeon E3-1200 v2/3rd Gen Core processor
DRAM C
audio works fine with Kernel 3.8.0-20-generic, but doesn't work at all
with Kernel 3.8.0-21-generic

I tried the "apport-collect" but have an issue when it tries to get credentials
from FF/Launchpad.
Is there an other way to produce a report and to attach it to the bug ?

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v3.10 kernel[0].
If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.
