Public bug reported: This device uses an rtl8192cu Realtek driver as far as I know. If you plug the device in via USB, or boot with it connected, nothing happens.
You have to execute the following commands, to at least have it in NetworkManager/iwconfig. # sudo su # modprobe rtl8192cu # echo 2357 0100 > /sys/bus/usb/drivers/rtl8192cu/new_id # exit Even after this, you won't be able to connect. Authentication fails with a WPA2 router, with: # wlan1: authenticate with .:.:.:.:.. # wlan1: direct probe to ... (try 1/3) # wlan1: direct probe to ... (try 2/3) # wlan1: direct probe to ... (try 3/3) # authentication with ... timed out. And this goes on and on. No other messages, just this one. Twice, every time I try to connect with it. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: tp-link usb wifi wireless -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1186253 Title: TP-Link 8200ND USB Wireless adapter won't work...
