Daniel, where are you getting this build log from?
The build has no need to call PHP, it's an arch-indep package.
The package on symfony's website are broken, they're actually built
manually, rather than through a source package ;(
Debian sid WILL have 1.1, but at the moment, 1.0 is the current
I downloaded the package from unstable and built it in an intrepid
pbuilder.

The package is broken (not sure if it's broken in Debian too):
- Lots of exec: 28: /usr/bin/php: not found during the build.
- Lots of files installed into /symfony in the package afterwards.
