Running rhythmbox-client --play-uri file://path/to/mp3 when no rhythmbox is running causes rhythmbox to be spawned so I guess rhythmbox-client is the one running rhythmbox. I would seem like this bug lives in rhythmbox-client because if it is spawning rhythmbox it should wait a little for rhythmbox
