I had a mysql installed on ubuntu 12.04 was working well with apache2 and php5.
Last days I experienced some problem with mysql, when I tried to open my local
web projects they shown error: MySQL has gone away. I saw some information
about 1 bad sector in SMART in disk utility. so I uninstalled
I got the same problem today.

It turned out to be an apparmor issue. As I was having my mysql data in
a different location during update ls -la
/etc/apparmor.d/usr.sbin.mysqld was overwrriten. This resulted in error.
after correcting that file every thing is back to normal.
