I was able to reproducethe problem regarding the ~O usage in the grouping policy. Testing of this is affected by bug 252635 if the preferences are set in the aptitude window as they are not retained. Using the ~/.aptitude/config file works fine. Ubuntu 8.04.1 LTS with aptitude 0.4.9-2ubuntu5
