Public bug reported: Binary package hint: restricted-manager
THIS IS NOT A BUG... but it does fall within the goals of this project. This is just some information regarding a device that needs firmware loaded as the last leg for full support in Ubuntu: The D-Link DWL-650 Rev. P1. This PCMCIA wireless card is correctly recognized in Linux kernel 2.6.22, but not prior. As such, it works in Gutsy Gibbon but still requires firmware. The firmware is available at http://www.red-bean.com/~proski/firmware/. The file archive that contains the necessary firmware is latest- prism.tar.bz2, and the two files needed are pm010102.hex and rf010804.hex. The final setup is to change the wlan interface, which in my case looks like this: auto wlan0 iface wlan0 inet dhcp fw_primary /lib/firmware/dwl-650/pm010102.hex fw_secondary /lib/firmware/dwl-650/rf010804.hex Following a reboot, the card works 100%.
