To be clear, the issue here is that the trusty kernel implements
mitigation of networking and the profiles in precise do not contain
support for this. The patches applied allow the backport to be
configured without this functionality.

#32 This bug was fixed in the package linux - 3.13.0-7.26:
not fixed for me (dell e6500 under 12.04): still the same problem as with
previous 3.13 kernel versions:
no wifi, but workaround apparmor=0 still works.
Most recent mainline kernel (3.13.1-031301-generic from v3.13.1
(trusty)) works,
Volker - can you attach a 3.13.0-7.26 kernel dmesg from the case when
wifi isn't working ? Maybe Apparmor is blocking something else.

as a workaround, I can use 3.13.1-031301-generic from v3.13.1 (trusty)
(mainline) which works in 12.04 (dell e6500), including wifi.

I can confirm this bug. My computer M6600 works fin-lts-saucy with 3.11
-lts-saucy and 3.13 mainline but network fails to connectfa with 3.13

kernel 3.13.0-4.19 and 3.13.0-5.20 (linux-lts-trusty) / no wifi:
in connection with the above problem: 3.11.0-17.30+precise1 does not produce
any problems, in particular wifi works.
Test was made with the same system as for 3.13 (ubuntu 12.04 on dell e6500).

kernel 3.13.0-5.20 (linux-lts-saucy):
same problems as with 3.13.0-4.19 - no wifi
On the other hand, 3.13.0-031300 (mainline) works okay, including wifi.
Workaround for kernel 3.13.0-5.20 : WiFi works after adding apparmor=0
in /etc/default/grub, doing sudo update-grub and rebooting.

Hi Volker,
I can perform a kernel bisect to identify the commit that introduced
this regression. Please test Tim's suggestion in comment #2 first, then
we can bisect based on the results from that test.
