Xfce-power-manager IS running. But attempting to use the settings
command results in an ERRONEOUS is not running error message.

Why is this marked as a duplicate?
Read the bug report! Xfce4-power-manager IS running, but trying to use
the settings dialogue brings up an ERRONEOUS is not running error message.
The Stars Are
I just switched to gdm, to see if this had any effect, and the result
was the same. Also something has happened with my USB audio device...
Now to try something else!
