two situations.

Here is the xorg logfile from the situation where it dumps core. It's
after the first reboot.
Apparently, X finds a different list of hardware, tries to use the ATI
card and fails.

Right, the important part is to capture the dump either the coredump or
the stacktrace in Xorg.0.log.
