I get the same problem with the Intel experimental driver and switching between 1440x900 to an external 1600x1050. The only thing that works for me is turning off compizFusion and this gives me 1400x1050 as the highest working res with the external display. -- Gutsy: Compiz full screen not

No combination of connection/reconnection works for me. The only thing that makes it work correctly is unchecking Detect Outputs and manually specifying 1280x1024. Of course this is then too big for my laptop screen but the laptop remains closed at home. (I have all latest updates) --

With todays updates there are some changes. If the window is located near to the top left corner it will maximise to the smaller screen size. However if I move the window away from the top left it will sometimes maximise correctly. Clicking on links etc within the window causes it to re-maximise
