As it happens, I think it installed ok in any case. There was another
pop-up later saying it couldn't install some libreoffice package as it
was already installed, then at the end there was another to say the
upgrade to 14.04 had failed, but in fact, once I'd dismissed that,
everything seemed fine.
That means that the particular package either became corrupt on disk or
in memory. Please try reinstalling the package via:
'sudo apt-get install --reinstall libreoffice-core'
