No, what I'm saying is /dev/dvd no longer exists or is used in recent Ubuntu
(or recent linux, don't care there
The bug is simple - gnome-mplayer needs to default to /dev/sr0 or if desired
it's symlink , /dev/cdrom

I am not sure what you mean. Are you saying that in the Preferences you
cannot select /dev/dvd as the default optical device? I am able to
select it in gnome-mplayer 1.0.9 (Ubuntu 14.10).
