In my case the image was created long ago and I don't really want to recreate
it from scratch unless I have to.
I have libudev1:i386 installed, so the suggestion in forum thread is not
suitable for me.

I wasn't sure which logs/output you needed, so I posted what I see in
the terminal. If there is something else you would like to see, let me

I confirm the problem on 12.04.
Workaround from forum you provided, seems to work for me:
put --use-raw-disk to the end of the ubuntu-emulator command
sudo ubuntu-emulator create UbuntuTouch --use-raw-disk
