Yes, there's a new release in Debian and in my PPA. The official Ubuntu
package is out of my control, but hopefully it will get into 14.10 via
Debian, at which point this bug will automatically close.

I know, I haven't got round to releasing the fix yet. All the fix does
is to set the bold colour to black in the default GTK theme. You can
easily edit your local config to do the same.

I know I can easily fix that in my local config... That's not the point.
Not all the users who see this white on white thing will figure it out
right and proceed to the color scheme preferences to fix it. Some might
think the terminal simply eats some words from the text.

Filing a bug under vte category won't help GTK2-based terminals that
use GTK2-based version of vte. The upstream won't fix the bugs in the
version they consider obsolete.

OK, done. I've also disabled the cursor colour because it tends to make
text under the cursor hard to read. See
