I have Ubuntu 8.04 - the Hardy Heron on my laptop and finally I managed
to install the webcam but unfortunately Pidgin has no support for video
chat so I searched the net and I found Kopete. I instaled, configured
the account, on Yahoo messenger, and tried to connect, it connects but
after 2
I get the same error, but only when i am out of the house on my
wireless.
at home Yahoo works fine, But while away using another open connection I
get remote host closed connection error 17.
Not trying to jump your Bug report, just saying it isn't just MSN, at
least for me.

Runing on kubuntu here, I am having the same problem. Connection to msn drops
after a few seconds, and if I try to send a message to one of my contacts, i
get the message:
The following message has not been sent

As Kopete works okay both with Yahoo and AIM, I fail to see how this will make
any difference, it is obviously something to do with the way Kopete connects to
MSN. Anyway, my hotmail address is not for MSN messenger but for Windows Live
messenger and although it should work alright in either. I
