Ive installed xubuntu 9.10 3days ago and installed run this line
sudo aptitude update sudo aptitude install adblock-plus google-chrome-beta
ntfs-config flashplugin-installer firefox-launchpad-plugin
as u can see that installs adblock-plus and firefox-launchpad-plugin witch are
firefox addons.
This appears to still be a valid issue. Curious to see if this could be
investigated before release of Lucid?

This plugin adds search engines and that's why Firefox don't show it in
Addons list. Click on a down arrow in Firefox search bar to see that
this package is installed.
Tested on Ubuntu 8.04.
