Whichever version of xserver-xorg-video-vesa that is in the installer
for Tribe 5 AMD64 is what is being used.
After reviewing bug 89853, I am not convinced this is a duplicate. The
problem in that bug is that X will not start, but the console is still
visible. This bug is that when X tries to sta
most likely a dupe of bug 89853, which is now fixed.

Which version of xserver-xorg-video-vesa are you using? This should be
fixed in current Gutsy, although not in tribe-5.
