In my case, VLC is not affected, but Totem, Nautilus, Firefox and Shotwell are. Any video file makes them crash with the following Gstreamer error message: "GStreamer-CRITICAL **: gst_structure_new_empty: assertion 'gst_structure_validate_name (name)' failed" I installed all the bad and ugly plug
