I think it is something to do with the codecs. Totem worked fine in
gutsy beta and the final version. All of a sudden one day, it just
stopped displaying video. I downgraded to a new install of gutsy beta
and the same problem exists. I think it must be the codecs.

Totem Movie Player does
My totem do not play DVD. Audio work's fine. I have installed Ubuntu
Extras but no have effect to solution the problem.
