Public bug reported: On a Macbook Air 2013 (6,2), I used to run Mint 16 XFCE (natively, not via virtualization), and had my external Samsung display happily running at its max resolution of 2560x1440 via a HDMI adapter. I confirmed the same resolution can be obtained when booting Xubuntu 13.10 from USB.
I recently upgraded to Xubuntu 14.04.1 and now the external display will not run at anything higher than 1920x1200. xrandr does not show anything higher than that available. Confirmed the same issue exists in Mint 17 XFCE when booting from USB.
